31 years ago you came into the world and sadly, it took me 29 of them to find you. It’s my greatest hope that I won’t miss being part of any more of them and that maybe, just maybe I’ll be part of making every year from here on out the very best year yet. In honor of your day, today, I made a list of 31 things I love about you.
Your smile. You have my very favorite smile in all of the world.
Your obsession with camo crocs. I can’t believe I’m admitting this but I actually kinda dig it about you (but no, you still can’t wear them to church).
The way you say ‘gnocchi’.
Your steadiness that balances my crazy.
When you send me sappy sweet text messages just because. I’m sappy pretty much daily but when you do it’s the sweetest thing in the world.
Slow dancing. You never refuse me a slow dance and it’s one of my very favorite things in the world.
Mad smoking skills bro. You rock that Comodo Joe.
The way your face lights up when I bring you/pack you snacks.
When you pretend to hate my tradition of writing cards for special things but always find the perfect card and say the best things.
Our shared love of giving presents early. This HAS to be the first present I’ve made you wait til the actual day for.
Your complete ineptitude at social media. It’s so endearing and perfect.
48239423890 phone calls a day. You call me more than anyone I’ve ever met but when you’re busy, I really miss those calls.
Speaker phone attacks. AKA that moment when I realize after saying something kind of embarrassing that you have me on speaker phone yet again for all your friends to hear.
The way you so perfectly pick when to put me in my place ( I need it).
Your tolerance of my horrible movie picks. And really, I’ve picked some baaaad ones.
Your food snobbery (I maybe am amused by this more than actually loving it).
The way you say at LEAST once per week: I gotta go home and clean for hours. Like, what happens in-between these cleanings?
Selfies - that you take them with me even though you pretty much hate them.
Your unique balance of taking no ones ‘crap’ but being helpful and dependable. Only you can walk that line so perfectly.
The way you roll your eyes at my overpacking for everything (more than 30 minutes? I need a cooler, a purse, a bag, where’s my sunscreen) but then happily use every single item and eat every single snack.
Boat days. Boat days with you are my favorite thing to do.
Holding your hand. You’re the best hand-holder and you always find my hand at the perfect time. Usually right when I realize I’m wishing you would.
The way you tell me what I need to hear (even if it’s not what I want to hear) but then always remind me how much you love me.
That you’ve won all my friends over and they may like you more than me.
Watching you grow in your faith and prayers this year.
Dreaming about the future together.
The way you tell me we don’t need anymore yetis (true) then send me every new color or item and ask if we need it.
When you cook for me while I read a book on the couch but still let me make you kiss me every time you walk by.
Dominoes. I love playing dominoes with you.
The way you bring me beautiful flowers. They make me happy for days.
The fact that making this list was easy. Because there are a million things to love about you and I’m finding more everyday.
