Keeping up with the Biggs
January @ the Boat Show in St. Pete, FL
Blake reminded me yesterday on date night that I’ve been a little absent from the blog the last few weeks so I thought I’d post an update! First off, I’ve got a cold for the third time in a month (or does it just feel that way?) and I’m sick of being sick. I shared about our sweet Christmas with our families despite some chaos. Then January came and works been busy, my Dad announced his retirement after 43 years of coaching, and we found out we were going to have 3 trips in 2 weeks between us. Whew. Never a dull moment for the Biggs.
This weekend I’ll be up in Indiana visiting my best friend. After a crazy summer/fall combo last year with our engagement, my giant awesome bridal shower, and then getting married within 2 months of said engagement I did not make my usual tour of friends last fall to catch up so I’m getting back into my groove now. Excited to catch up and relax with puzzles and netflix with my bestie. That’s been in place for a while but then we found out we’d be headed to Denver for Valentines week for Blake to attend a conference - I’ll go along and work remote from the hotel but also get to do some exploring with him in the evenings and on the weekend.
Throwing a slight wrench in our plans Blake got called out last minute to a new project in another state for work next week so it seems we’ll be ships in the night leading up to Denver. Funny how after less than 6 months of marriage when I found out he’d be gone a week I thought: what will I do? I guess whatever I did the first 35 years of life without him. Also, probably sit around and be grateful I have him.
I hope to do a better job of writing in the coming weeks especially with trips to share about. Sorry for the brief break, we’ve been trying to get healthy (please may this be the last cold) and prep for a crazy couple of weeks. Dad’s retirement probably deserves it’s own post but I will also say I’m trying to soak up every minute of having them here I can before they head off to their next season. It’s bittersweet but I’m trying to maintain a position of gratitude for the amazing four years we’ve had to share the same hometown but also mourning that it’s coming to an end.
Stay tuned.
