Married Life: 6 Months
We’ve been married 6 months!
It’s wild how fast time goes. In April we will have known each other for 2 years and will have been married for 8 months of that time. Oddly it’s hard to remember life before Blake but also it seems like time has flown by. Funny how that happens.
They say the first year is the hardest and we’re halfway through. Leading up to the 6 month mark I felt like we had our hardest week yet. We bickered more than we ever had and couldn’t seem to just get back to us. This is the interesting part of marriage is that you’re together all the time but if you’re not careful the hard days can still feel lonely. I think the trick, for me, is to stay in prayer. Blake and I do a devotion together and pray together in the mornings and I think that unifies us even on weeks it feels like were not on the same page (or chapter).
What do I love most about married life? Hm, I guess it’s when I wake up in the night and Blake’s holding my hand. Not sure that cuteness will ever get old. I get to have a lifetime of sleepovers with my favorite person. Truly, what could be better?
The funniest thing is probably how much more laundry one person (and a dog) seems to add to my life and the most annoying is that somehow there are always sticky Blake-sized finger prints all over my stainless steel appliances. Someone send help.
I’m so thankful for this 6 months. To be facing the best and worst days with Blake. Marriage is hard - everyone says it and it’s true. But it is so so worth it. Here’s to the next 6 months and forever after that.
