Bahamas Cruise
Royal Caribbean Cruise to Cococay
June 2023
Hi Friends -
I am purposing to be present more often here with family updates so here I am after a great weekend away Blake and our friends. We left Thursday afternoon on the Royal Caribbean Serenade of the Seas to cruise from Tampa to Cococay (in the Bahamas) and back. Being unplugged from Thursday evening-Monday morning was truly heavenly and it made me want to do that on every vacation. What a gift. I’ve been working on some of my online presence the last few months and having a blast with it BUT being away, truly away was so timely for me. It felt good to unplug from work which has been busy lately as well. Truly I came back so rested and relaxed and I’m grateful for that.
This was my first cruise and I have a few thoughts. First, I think that it’s better with a group. In fact, I might say the bigger the better in this case. We had so much fun playing cards over cocktails or doing the sit down dining/fancy dinners with our friends. Also, isn’t hanging at the pool always better with a buddy or two? Second, I think the drink package was totally worth it. I loved being able to have Starbucks every morning (and most afternoons) in the little coffee shop, for starters. Plus I loved that we paid pretty much everything we had to in advance, so we weren’t running up charges all week. Thirdly, I highly recommend bringing cards/dominoes/games with you and playing every evening with friends! There tends to be down time between when you run out of wanting to be in the sun and when you’re dinner time is (ours was late) and it was perfect.
We did a short cruise (Thursday-Monday at 7am) and I think that was a great start. We are considering a cruise to Alaska with some family and maybe friends next year so we’ll see. But would I do it again? Yes, for sure. Not sure it’s my favorite vacation style but I definitely liked the ease of it and for someone who’s use to being in charge of every element of a vacation - it was nice to have nothing to coordinate!
